Mr Oliver Chan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery. He undertook his undergraduate training at University College London and went on to complete his higher orthopaedic training in the Kent, Surrey & Sussex deanery. After attaining his certificate of completion of training (CCT) in 2020, he honed his specialist foot and ankle skills with further postgraduate training in the form of two nationally renowned fellowships prior to practicing as a consultant. They were based at Guy’s and St. Thomas’s Hospital and King’s College London. The fellowships focused on all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including high volume elective foot and ankle surgery, complex foot and ankle trauma and the management of diabetic foot pathology. He is keen to stay up to date with the latest advances in foot and surgery and recently completed a “mini-fellowship” in minimally invasive techniques.

He was appointed a Consultant at Chelsea Westminster Hospitals NHS Foundation trust in 2021 and is the lead foot and ankle surgeon at the West Middlesex site. Since starting his consultant practice, Mr Chan has contributed significantly to quality and service improvement. He has been instrumental in developing the foot and ankle and wider orthopaedic services at the trust. He has developed foot and ankle pathways and guidelines at the trust.
His adult practice includes the surgical management of cataract and lens replacement as well as adult squint surgery.
He also implemented a Virtual fracture clinic service at the Chelsea site which has significantly reduced the waiting times for this service. He is currently the orthopaedic lead for the Virtual fracture clinic and for the prevention of blood clots in patients (West Middlesex Site).
Mr Chan has published widely in a number of peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at national and international conferences. He has also completed two higher research degrees. His understanding of research and critical appraisal skills enable him to advise patients about treatments with an evidence-based approach.
He also has keen interests in medical education, having completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He has served as faculty on exam courses, published a textbook chapter as well as lecturing medical students at University College London and King’s College medical schools. He currently serves as an educational and clinical supervisor to doctors in training.
